Ceasefire or Victory?

By Robert Thomason

War comes again to the Middle East. After six months of rocket attacks by Hamas on Israel, Israel struck back. The "international community" is all atwitter about the level of response, the cowering women and children, and the overall destruction in Gaza created by this war.

The reaction of the "international community" to the cowering women and children in Israel, and the death and destruction in Israel was non-existent. This is a very old story. The Arabs in Gaza attack and kill Jews and no one outside Israel takes notice. The Jews strike back and the "usual suspects" are outraged at the death and destruction in Gaza. Of course, they fail to mention that the brave warriors of Hamas who are attacking the Jewish "occupiers", place their rocket launchers next to hospitals, schools and in residential areas. Any counter attack by Israel is liable to produce non-combatant death and injury.

Now the "international community" wants a cease fire. This usually means that Israel is winning and inorder to save the Arabs from yet another defeat Israel must stop short of victory. More calls for negotiation are heard at the UN and in capitals around the world. How does Israel negotiate with a group committed to detroying it as a nation and sending the survivors back to the gas chambers?

This conflict can only be settled by one side winning. Victory will bring peace to this region. More talk will give us more of the same mess we have had from all the previous negotiations in the "Middle East Peace Process."

Let the two sides battle this through to completion. This will result in a victory for the survivor and the peace everyone says they want. Who will win? It's hard to say; but my money is on the children of promise.
